Why it exists
Most cleansers are either a punishment or a moisturizer in disguise. This one washes, rinses clean, and leaves you alone. The suspended jojoba beads are there because they are beautiful. That is allowed.

What the studies found.
Bigger than the pore
The cleaning particles are wider than your skin's water channels, 33.5 against 29 angstroms, a unit about the size of an atom. Too big to get through, so the barrier is left alone.

Glycerin
One humectant, four documented jobs: pulls water into the top layer of skin, helps the barrier work, keeps skin flexible, and blunts irritants. Also the reason the wash does not feel like a punishment.

Why it lives here. A cleanser is the one product you smell for thirty seconds and then rinse away. So this is built to be present in the shower and gone by the towel, and never to argue with whatever goes on after it.

Are the jojoba beads exfoliating?
No. They are soft wax spheres that melt as you wash. They do not scrub and they are not plastic. They are there because they are beautiful. That is allowed.
Can I use these on my body?
Clean Slate is a face and body wash. Baby's Bottom works anywhere skin is dry, including hands, elbows and feet. The serums are formulated for the face. You can use them elsewhere; it is just an expensive habit.
Are they suitable for sensitive skin?
The formulas are simple on purpose, but 15% vitamin C and retinal are actives, and actives can sting. Patch test on the inner forearm for three days before using a new product on your face, and start Coming of Age at two nights a week. Patch testing is boring. So is a week of a sore face.
