Why it exists
Copper tripeptide, paired in our lab with Hexapeptide-11, and a multi-peptide system for firmness, elasticity, and general skin quality, with niacinamide doing quietly excellent supporting work and a size-sorted fermented hyaluronic acid handling the water. Some peptide evidence is strong. Some is genuinely interesting. We tell you which is which. Hence the name.

Two peptides in one copper complex, a hyaluronic acid sorted by size, and the gentlest grade of niacinamide.
Our lab makes the copper complex as a pair: copper tripeptide-1 with Hexapeptide-11, a yeast-derived peptide with published work on the cell's own stress-defense switch. The hyaluronic acid is fermented in our bioreactors into a spectrum of sizes rather than one, because the human studies say size decides whether it gets past the surface. And the niacinamide is the low-flush grade, 20 parts per million nicotinic acid, the impurity that makes cheaper niacinamide sting.

Fermented in our lab into a spectrum of sizes. Roughly a third ends up small enough to pass the surface, the range the human trials found doing more than sitting on top.
What the research says
In 76 women aged 30 to 60, 0.1% hyaluronic acid creams at 50, 130, 300, 800 and 2000 kDa all significantly improved skin hydration and elasticity against a vehicle over 60 days, and only the 50 and 130 kDa sizes significantly reduced wrinkle depth, which the authors attribute to better penetration of the smaller molecule.

Why there is none. The three serums carry the actives, and the actives have enough going on. Vitamin C at pH 3, copper peptides and retinal are not improved by a scent sitting on top of them, and skin on a retinoid is exactly the skin most likely to object to one.
What was left out. No masking fragrance to hide the smell of vitamin C either. The faint note of the ingredient, for a moment, is the receipt.

Can I use copper peptides with vitamin C?
Yes, with a minute between them. Bright Side goes on first and soaks in; Mixed Signals goes on after. The worry that L-ascorbic acid and copper interfere comes from bench chemistry, not from a skin trial. Letting the first serum absorb keeps the question academic.
What is fermented hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid that has been put through a fermentation in our lab's bioreactors, which breaks it into a spectrum of sizes instead of one. Size decides what hyaluronic acid can do: on Raman imaging of human skin, pieces between 20 and 300 kilodaltons passed through the outer layer while the large ones stayed on top, and in a 60-day trial the 50 and 130 kilodalton sizes reduced wrinkle depth where larger sizes only hydrated. About a third of ours ends up under 100 kilodaltons.
Does niacinamide make skin flush?
It can, and the culprit is usually nicotinic acid, an impurity in lower grades of niacinamide that dilates blood vessels. Mixed Signals uses the low-nicotinic-acid grade, 20 parts per million, the gentlest specification made. If a niacinamide serum has ever made you go red, it was probably the grade, not the vitamin.
Can I use retinal and peptides together?
Yes. In our routine peptides are morning and retinal is night, so they never meet. If you want Mixed Signals at night as well, put it on before Coming of Age and let it absorb.
